On the second day of his election campaign in Poklok-Kamrang constituency, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha president, Chief Minister PS Tamang [Golay], interacted with people of Lower Wok and Tingri-Tingrithang blocks on Friday.
Mr Tamang, it may be recalled, is contesting the by-election from Poklok-Kamrang.
During the meeting, former MLA and North District in-charge of SDF party, Norzang Lepcha, retired DC PS Targain, former panchayat president, Udip Rai, former panchayat secretary, Dadup Lepcha, former panchayat members, Gagan Rai and Rumit Lepcha along with 13 families aligned with the SDF from Wok officially joined SKM, a party press release informs.
The release adds that Mr Tamang contended that SDF has been totally collapsed as a party under to influence of exploiting elements and rampant corruption.
He argued that the SDF president did not even bother to thank the people of Poklok-Kamrang after winning the election earlier this year but was now going to the people again to ask for their votes.
He assured that the SKM government would work in the interest of Sikkim and not allow any element to harm Sikkim and its people.
He urged the people to evaluate his work for the constituency in the coming days and assured the people to serve them better.
Mr Tamang alleged that Mr Chamling never visited any church in the constituency in the 25 years that he was Chief Minister and that this was a big dishonour for the Christian community.
On the same, he assured that SKM will continue to extend respect to every religion and that no community or section of the State will need to fear the government.
He also assured the people that he will make Poklok-Kamrang a model constituency of the State and bring opportunities for the youth here to become self-employed.
The release informs that the meeting was also addressed by senior SKM leader KB Rai, Minister Sanjeet Kharel and SKM spokesperson, Jacob Khaling.
Mr Tamang had launched his election campaign in the constituency from Kamrang NCC hall premises on Thursday.
