Gangtok, 15 Oct:
The Sikkim leg of ‘North East Super-6 Football Tournament,’ a six-a-side football tournament, will be held on 25 and 26 October here at Paljor Stadium.
The tournament is being held in all major towns of the eight North-Eastern States and promising players will receive the opportunity to undergo a trial with ISL club, North East United FC.
Speaking to media-persons this morning, local organizers, Thupden Rapgyal and Arjun Rai, mentioned that interested teams can collect and submit the registration forms by 19 October.
Mr Rapgyal informed that players should be above 16 years of age and six players of each team will take the field and four rolling substitutes would be allowed and each match will be of 20 minutes duration.
The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a trophy.
The winning team will also receive an all-expenses paid chance to travel to Guwahati to play in the finals [with winners from other cities of the North East].
Likewise, Mr Rai mentioned that North East Super 6 football tournament being held in collaboration with ISL club North East United FC and added that players spotted during the main finals at Guwahati will receive the opportunity to train under North East United FC.
Local organisers are expecting around 25 teams to participate in the Sikkim leg of the tournament.
