HSP condemns Rijiju’s statement on WB Govt

Gangtok, 18 Oct:

Hamro Sikkim Party today condemned Union Minister of State, Kiren Rijiju’s statement accusing the West Bengal government of obstructing development in Sikkim. The party also alleged that not only the ruling party but Sikkim Democratic Front is also working in coordination with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Addressing a press conference today, HSP working president, Bhaichung Bhutia, expressed his sadness over the Union Minister and senior BJP leader not speaking out regarding any of the pending demands of the State with the Central Government.

“Instead, his statement that various developmental works of Sikkim has been hampered or disturbed by the attitude of the State Government of neighboring state of West Bengal will mislead the people of Sikkim,” said Mr Bhutia.

Mr Rijiju allegedly made the statement recently in Sikkim while campaigning for the BJP candidate for the upcoming by-election.

He also urged the independent candidates of various constituencies to unite and support one candidate so that votes are not distributed.

“Hamro Sikkim Party will never allow BJP to form Government through back-door entry,” said the HSP working president.

Expressing confidence over winning the by-election, Mr Bhutia said that he has been getting positive and overwhelming response from the voters of Gangtok.

He said that this election is about saving Sikkim and the people of Gangtok will vote wisely and will not waste any of their votes. He has urged the voters of Gangtok to come forward to vote for Sikkim on 21 Oct.

The press conference was also addressed by other leaders of the party.
