Gangtok, 05 Nov:
A hattrick by DebasishRai helped Royal Football Club, Siliguri, to secure its berth in the semi-final round of the ongoing 39th All India Governor’s Gold Cup Football Tournament 2019 here at Paljor Stadium. In the first quarter-final match played on Tuesday, Royal FC has registered a convincing 4–1 victory against ISL club, Jamshedpur Football Club [Reserve] to enter into the semi-final round of the tournament.
Royal FC maintained constant pressure on Jamshedpur FC led by a local lad, Boxer Pradhan as the team captain. Both teams took on each other with an attacking game but failed to convert some good chances into early lead in the match.
TempaLhendup Bhutia finally scored the lead for Royal FC in the 32nd minute and within two minutes his teammate, DebasishRai doubled the lead. DebashishRai further extended the lead of Royal FC with his brace in the 45th minute to end the first half with 3–0 lead.

However, DebashishRai scored his hattrick goal in the 76th minute to further take the lead of Royal FC to 4–1.
The referee sent AshishChettri of Royal FC off the field on a red card in the injury time of the match but it was too late for Jamshedpur FC players to stop the 10-man Royal FC from reaching the semi-final round of the tournament.
