Royal Gorkha Cook Book released
Gangtok, 13 Nov:
Lok Sabha MP, Indra Hang Subba, today released chef Shamson Tamang’s documentation of the traditional cuisine of the Gorkha community, ‘The Royal Gorkha Cook Book.’
The author is also looking for support from the Parliament and the Centre for the endorsement of traditional Gorkha cuisines and to include it in the menu of elite hotels and restaurants of the country.
On the occasion, the author was also felicitated by Sikkim Tamang Youth Society for his initiative.
In his address, the Lok Sabha MP, while congratulating the author for his effort to promote the identity of the community, highlighted that Sikkim was always in the forefront when it comes to efforts in the interest of the community.
Commenting that food was part of the identity of a community, the MP assured the author to provide all possible support in his endeavour.
The author, in turn, explained that the main objective behind the book was to document and promote ethnic Gorkha cuisine and shared his desire to see ethnic Gorkha cuisine in the menu of elite hotels and restaurants of the country.
