Sikkim U-23 women’s cricket team beats Mizoram

Gangtok, 13 Nov:

The U-23 women’s cricket team of Sikkim is participating in “Women’s Under-23 T20 Trophy 2019–20” at Pondicherry which started on 12 Nov, a press release informs.

Today they played their second match of the tournament against Mizoram at Siechem Stadium, Pondicherry and won the match by 9 wickets. So far they have played two matches out of seven to be played in this tournament.

The Sikkim team will be playing against Maharashtra, Mizoram, Rajasthan, Hyderabad, Pondicherry, Mumbai and Tamil Nadu throughout this tournament in Group E.

In today’s match, Mizoram won the toss and chose to bat first and scored 118 runs losing 2 wickets in 20 overs at a run rate of 5.90. SandhyaKumari scored the innings highest of 87 runs off 72 balls followed by Lal RinFela (11) and K Dinpuii (7) for Mizoram.

Sikkim’s bowler Aruna Barman and RinkyRajak took 1 wicket each. In the second inning Sikkim scored 119 runs losing 1 wicket in 17.1 overs and won the match by 9 wickets. RinkyRajak scored 45 runs (not-out), SarojiniGiri 28 runs (not-out) and NandikaKumari 4 runs for Sikkim. With this win Sikkim earned 2 point(s).

The next match will be played against Rajasthan at CAP Ground 2, Pondicherry on 15 November.
