SMU declares 2019¬–20 as “Year of Research”

Sikkim Manipal University (SMU) is launching the Year of Research 2019–20 on 14 Nov in a program which will be attended by Member of Parliament, LokSabha, Sikkim, Indra Hang Subbaaschief guest, a press release informs.
On the occasion, First Annual Oration of Sikkim Manipal University “Collaboration and Competition in Science” will be delivered by Vice Chancellor, Prof DrAvinashKhare, Sikkim University.
The year 2019-20 has been declared as “Year of Research” in which several additional activities related to research have been planned, the release mentions.
Faculty and students of SMIMS and constituent colleges are involved in collaborative studies, both with national and international institutes of repute with extramural funding from agencies like IARC WHO, Florida University, Duke Clinical Research Institute USA, ICMR, DBT, DST, RNTCP, DESME, SJRI Bangalore etc.
In addition, intramural funding is available to support both faculty and student research. Mobility among the Manipal institutions is funded with the aim to bring the researchers together so that there is sharing of expertise, high quality research output, and access to research facilities, strengthening of research collaboration and building of a professional network.
