STATE LEVEL BAND COMPETITION 2019 North Sikkim Academy boys and West Point Sr Sec girls win top priz

Gangtok, 15 Nov [IPR]:

The 3rd Edition of State level Band Competition for Schools under SamagraShiksha, Education Department, Government of Sikkim was conducted today at Guards’Ground, Gangtok.

Building and Housing Minister, SanjitKharel, was the chief guest whileChairperson State Trading Corporation, Bishnu Kumar Khatiwara, and Advisor to CM (Press and Media), C.P. Sharma, were the guests of honour.

State Project Director, SamagraShiksha, BhimThatal during his welcome address briefed about the Band competition and also highlighted that in the 1st and 2nd editions,the Sikkim team secured 1st runners-up and first positions, respectively, in the National level competitions.

The band competition was conducted in two categories i.e, Boys and Girls. In Boys category, three schools took part and in Girls category, four schools participated in the competition.

North Sikkim Academy, Mangan, won in the boys category while West Point Senior Secondary School, East Sikkim, bagged the 1st position in girls category.

These two teams will now represent the State in the Zonal level Band Competition to be held in the month of December 2019 at Guwahati.

Minister, Mr Kharelcongratulated the winners and awarded cash prize to them. He also extended his best wishes to them to perform well in the Zonal level competitions.
