Scholarships in place for 75 UPSC aspirants, selection exam on 01 Dec

Gangtok, 18 Nov:

Education Minister, Kunga Nima Lepcha, has announced scholarships worth Rs 47 lakh for 50 shortlisted civil services aspirants to undergo coaching from ALS IAS.

Meanwhile, the ALS IAS National Sales Head, Prateek Bhattacharya, also announced scholarships worth Rs 23 lakh for 25 aspirants under the organisation’s CSR initiative.

Together, these scholarships will cover the coaching expenses for 75 aspirants from Sikkim preparing for UPSC exams.

Candidates for the scholarships will be selected from scholarship selection exams scheduled for 01 Dec at all District Headquarters and to be conducted under the supervision of the respective District Collectors.

Application forms will be made available from 19 Nov at all DC offices with the last date of form submission being 28 November.

Results will be released on 05 December and coaching batches will commence from 10 December at Nar Bahadur Bhandari Degree College here, it is informed. Those born before 01 Aug, 2000 can apply for the scholarship.

Selected candidates shall receiving coaching via VSAT with live transmission of classes being conducted at ALS Delhi being transmitted to classrooms here.

Academic mentors from Delhi will also be sent by ALS to Gangtok to monitor, motivate and guide the students during their coaching along with monthly visits by IAS and IPS officers serving in Sikkim to inspire the candidates.

“ALS hopes that this path breaking initiative taken by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim will be able to transform the youth of Sikkim and produce results in Civil Services in the coming years,” the organization has conveyed through a press release.
