Gangtok, 19 Nov:
Sikkim’s Dichen Ongmu Bhutia, a reporter with Sikkim Express, ran the biggest women’s marathon of the country, Pinkathon, at Guwahati in Assam.
Ms Bhutia successfully completed the 10km run within the stipulated time.
Speaking to SummitTimes from Guwahati, she shared that the marathon was a once in a lifetime experience for her. Pinkathon is organized to raise awareness about breast cancer.
“It was a lifetime experience to meet so many women from different age-groups and from different states who had come together for a cause. I am very happy that I took part in this,” Ms Bhutia said.
The Guwahati edition of the Pinkathon was the fifth edition of the marathon started by model and actor Milind Soman.
The Guwahati edition of Pinkathon was held on 17 November and saw a large participation from all over the country.
Ms Bhutia mentioned that she was inspired to participate in the marathon after marathon runners from Sikkim took part in the same event in the year 2017.
Young Marathon Runner from Sikkim, Bharati Gurung, is the one who encouraged me to run the Pinkathon, she said.
