Gangtok, Nov 28:
The fourteenth edition of Indo-China border trade through Nathula closed for the year today. Major items that were exported this season were biscuits, flour, copper items, textiles and rice worth Rs 39.73 crore against import of readymade garments, blankets, carpets, shoes and quilts worth Rs 3.16 crore, informs Additional Director, Commerce & Industries Department, N Jaswant Singh.
Imports saw a marginal dip this year having recorded Rs 5.3 crore in 2018.
A formal closing ceremony was held at Nathula today attended by State and Central government officials and their counterparts from Tibetan Autonomous Region along with traders.
Trade had resumed for the year on 01 May.
Sikkim traders imported primarily carpets, readymade garments, blankets, shoes, jackets and quilts and exported more than 13 items - Vegetable Oil, Rice, Processed Food, Canned Food, Textiles, Copper items.
