Grace Foundation emerged champion of the Phoenix Cup an inter-rehabilitation centre football tournament, here at Paljor Stadium today. In a closely contested final match this afternoon, Grace Foundation finally beat Freedom Facility in a tie-breaker to lift the champion’s trophy.
The tournament was organized by Social Justice & Welfare Department as part of the State Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction. A total of 11 rehab centers from different parts of the State had participated in this week-long football tournament.
The final match had Minister to Social Justice & Welfare Department, Dr MK Sharma, as the chief guest accompanied by Secretary, SJWD, Dhan Jyoti Mukhia, and Secretary, Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Kuber Bhandari, among other dignitaries.
The full time of the match ended in a 2–2 draw.
The match then proceeded to the tie-breaker through penalty shoot-out, in which Grace Foundation converted four shots into goals and Freedom Facility managed to score two goals. Rewaj Lucksom was adjudged the Man of the Match.
