Amar Subba and student to attempt Ultra Marathon in Bengaluru
Gangtok, 19 Dec:
Two ultra-marathon runners from Sikkim are all set to participate in the Ultra Marathon Bengaluru to be held on 22 December.
Marathon Man of Sikkim, Amar Subba, and his student, Shiva Hang Limboo, will participate in the 50KM category of this ultra-marathon. They are leaving for Bengaluru on Friday. The event is being organized by Bengaluru-based NEB Sports.
Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Subba said, “Although I am not much prepared for the marathon this time due to my social engagements, I decided to participate and finish 50K within five hours.”
He is however confident of a good performance from his student.
“I have much expectation from my student and keen to see him finish in the top-three,” he said.
He informed that the top-three of the competition will qualify for an international-level 100K marathon.
Mr Subba is presently preparing other long-distance runners of the State for the upcoming marathon of NEB Sports in Kolkata next year.
23-year-old Shiva Hang Limboo hails from Timbrong under Yuksom-Tashiding constituency in West Sikkim. He finished on second spot at the 12-hour Stadium Run in New Delhi last year covering a distance of 119 KMs.
“I have undergone rigorous training and have received focused coaching for the last two months. I aim to finish the marathon within four hours and stand among the top-three to qualify for the international 100K marathon,” he shared.
He also expressed gratitude towards all individuals for their support in making it possible for him to participate in the Bengaluru event.
