NAMPRIKDANG NAMSOONG FESTIVAL Despite election loss, have not abandoned Dzongu: CM

Dzongu, 03 Jan:

“Despite losing the election from Dzongu constituency, we have not abandoned Dzongu,” said Chief Minister, PS Tamang while addressing the function at NamprikdangNamsoong festival in Dzongu today.

The people of Dzongu should not hesitate to ask and share their problems with the government, he added. He further added that the SKM party had included the "Care Dzongu Project" in their manifesto in the year 2014 for the development of Dzongu.The Dzongu is rich in culture and traditions and urged the young generation to work towards preserving it, he stated.

“I have already told the department that there should be extra five seats in CM’s meritorious scholarship scheme for Dzongu,” he said.

He also announced that the 4 km road construction from Passingdang to Kayem in Upper Dzongu will be tendered within this month. The CM also announced the construction of foot suspension bridge at MantamLake.

The CM today inaugurated the model village at Rhinghim in Mangan, North Sikkim on his way to the Namprikdang Namsoong festival.

Delivering the welcome speech, president Namprikdang Namsoong Celebration Committee,Nezing Lepcha underlined the importance of Namprikdang Namsoong festival.

In-charge Dzongu constituency, Chungkipo Lepcha highlighted the burning issues of Dzongu in terms of road connectivity.

The function was also addressed by IPR cum Agriculture Minister, LokNath Sharma.

Likewise, the patron-in-chief cum Minister Roads & Bridges Dept expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for attending the function for the people of Dzongu. He also added that the SKM government will undertake major development works in North Sikkim.

Also in the function, the celebration committee felicitated Padma Shri awardee,Sonam Tshering Lepcha and Dichen Ongmu Lepcha from Dzongu in sports. The CM also released the book written by Sonam Wangchuk Lepcha of Dzongu.
