Nawin Kiran condemns govt job for a non-local, demands that Sikkim State Public Services Act be repe
Gangtok, 21 Jan:
Sikkim Subject Committee vice-convener, Nawin Kiran Pradhan, today stated that the appointment of a non-local as the Officer on Special Duty [OSD] to the Chief Minister was against the interests of locals and in violation of Rule 4/4 of the Sikkim Government Establishment Rules.
He asserted that the ethos of “Sikkim for Sikkimese” should be maintained at all costs and demanded that the appointment of Sunil Saraogi as OSD to the CM be canceled immediately in the interest of the people of Sikkim.
Addressing a press conference here this afternoon, Mr Pradhan informed that although the appointment order was supposedly taken out on 25 July last year, it came into light only a few days back in the social media.
He pointed out that Sikkim Krantikari Morcha had made several promises to work in the interest of local people but has taken decisions contrary to its promises.
He added that when in the Opposition, SKM had launched strong state-wide demonstration in the year 2016 against the appointment of Anita Gupta as an OSD.
He informed that Mr Saraogi’s appointment has been made under the Sikkim State Public Services Act of 2006, an Act which he sees as a ploy to make political appointments by whichever party is in office. He demanded that the Act be repealed immediately in the interest of the people of Sikkim.
