MP points out contradictions in departmental reports

Gyalshing, 22 Jan:

Lok Sabha MP, Indra Hang Subba pointed out some contradictions in progress reports placed by various departments while chairing a coordination meeting of District Development and Monitoring Committee ‘DISHA’ today at Zilla Panchayat Bhawan of Kyongsa, West Sikkim.

“While PHE department claims that 99% drinking water facilities have been made available in West Sikkim, HRDD department complains that many schools have no drinking water facilities. Such contradictions cast doubt on the progress report placed by the concerned department," said Mr Subba.

He added that while implementing public welfare schemes, departments should resolve issues in convergence with each other.

During the meeting, many departments raised the problem of lack of manpower. In this regard, the MP talked about the ‘Transfer Policy’ which is being formulated at the State Level to resolve issues related to lack of manpower in the districts.

He further mentioned that the MP-LAD fund would solely be used for Education Department purposes for the year 2020.

The MP urged public representatives and leaders of the society such as panchayat members and government representatives to work in tandem for the development of the state and for the welfare of the common people.

He also suggested that the DISHA coordination meeting should be held on quarterly basis.

The meeting organized by Rural Management Development Department in coordination with West District Administration also had the presence of DC (West), Karma R Bonpo, ADC (Development), Milan Subba, Zilla Adhakshya (West), Devika Subba, heads of all departments, panchayat members and others.
