Sikkim held Meghalaya for a draw in its second match in the ongoing T Ao North East Football Championship at IG Stadium in Kohima, Nagaland, on Thursday. A goal by Dawa Sherpa in the injury time of the match helped Sikkim to get one point from this 1–1 draw match. Sikkim is now with 4 points from a win and a draw in the point tally in group-B.
The neck-to-neck played first half of the match ended in a goalless draw. The second half was again full of attacks and counter-attacks with Meghalaya scoring the lead in the 78th minute of the match.
Sikkim’s Dawa Sherpa scored the equaliser in the four minutes injury time of the match.
Sikkim team manager, Arjun Rai expressed that the squad played a wonderful game but was not able to capitalize on some good opportunities. He mentioned that Sikkim goalkeeper Nindup Lepcha made some very crucial saves in the match.
He stated that Sikkim now has 4 points from one win and one draw in group-B and a win or draw in its last match against Mizoram will take it to the semi-final round of the tournament.
