New Delhi, 30 Jan [IPR]:
Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang called on the Vice President of India, M Venkaiah Naidu at his official residence 6, Maulana Azad Road, New Delhi, this morning.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by Lok Sabha MP,Indra Hang Subba, Secretary to the Chief Minister, S.D Dhakal and Resident Commissioner, Sikkim House, New Delhi, A. K Chand.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister extended an invitation to the Vice President to visit Sikkim during the month of March 2020, which the Vice President gracefully accepted and said that he will be visiting Sikkim from 14 to 15 of March this year.
The Vice President will be inaugurating the newly constructed Thakurbari Temple in Gangtok and will also be attending the 2nd Convocation of SRM University as the Chief Guest, during his visit to Sikkim.
The Vice President was all praise for the effort with which the Chief Minister has taken the state forward with zeal and vigor after forming the Government last year.
He was also vocal about how Sikkim has been exemplary in working towards safeguarding ecological balance and environment protection without compromising on overall development.
The Chief Minister expressed his heartfelt gratitude towards the Vice President and also informed him about the award won by Sikkim recently in the field of tourism.
He also informed how the footfall of tourists in Sikkim, both domestic and international has shot up in the last one year.
Further, the Chief Minister also discussed in detail about various issues of Sikkim with the Vice President.
