SRLM prepares to implement NRLM in South and West Sikkim
Gangtok, 03 Feb:
New recruits of North East Rural Livelihood Project [NERLP] under National Rural Livelihood Mission [NRLM] attended a daylong orientation program on National Livelihood Mission held today at JantaBhawan, Gangtok. Commissioner-cum-SMD/RDD, Dr P Senthil Kumar chaired the program. The program was attended by 93 newrecruits and State Mission Management Unit staff of SRLM. During his introductory address, DrKumar highlighted the difference between the NERLP and NRLM, NRLM objective and its mechanism of implementation in details.
He also emphasized the role of MIS in the Mission Livelihood initiatives in achieving the objective of the mission in Sikkim. The program then witnessed a presentation on various thematic areas such as MIS Division, SISD Division, Livelihood Division, Financial Inclusion Division, HR Division, Finance Division, IBCB Division of the state mission management unit by the respective staff of the Division.
On the way forward in the Mission in West and South Sikkim, Commissioner explained various activities to be taken up by the Block Mission Management Unit.
The activities on Mission Antyodaya, Ease of Living, Stitching of School Uniform by the SHGs and completing them in time bound manner was also discussed.
It was informed that the activities taken up under SHGs, Federations, Producer Groups, Producer Organization., etc., need to be strengthened under NRLM. During the year 2020–21, the program such as Vulnerability Reduction Program and AGEY (AjeevikaGrameen Express Yojana) will be implemented in the SHGs of South and West Sikkim in addition to other SRLM activities.
The participants also had an interactive session with the resource persons and cleared their doubts on the subject. The program started with welcome address by Asst CEO/SRLM, Sisum W Bhutia and ended with vote of thanks by the APO/SRLM, MamitaChetttri.
Till December 2019, NRLM was implemented in East and North Sikkim. From January 2020, SRLM started implementation in South and West Sikkim. In South and West Sikkim, NERLP was implemented till Dec 2019. The rural Institutions such as SHGs, Federations, Producer Groups and Producer Organizations of these two Districts have now been taken over by the Sikkim Rural Livelihood Mission under NRLM.
