SKM CELEBRATES 8TH FOUNDATION DAY SKM membership renewal drive launched

GANGTOK, 04 Feb:

The ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party celebrated its 8th foundation day in a grand manner at Rangpo Mining ground in East Sikkim on Tuesday. SKM president and Chief Minister, PS Tamang was present as the chief guest on the day.

The foundation day was also attended by Speaker, LB Das, Deputy Speaker, Sangay Lepcha, Ministers and MLAs of SKM party along with senior leaders and workers of the party and a huge gathering of party supporters from all four districts.

On the occasion, the party president was felicitated by different associations and organizations. SKM calendar for year 2020 was also released by the party president. The foundation day also witnessed the launching of the renewal of primary membership of the party. It is informed that renewal of primary membership will be carried out across the State from Wednesday and continue till 01 April.

Senior SKM leader and Minister, KN Lepcha said that the sacrifices, dedication and hard work of the party supporters and people of Sikkim have brought SKM to power.

“SKM is just an 8-month-old government but it has been working hard under the visionary leadership of the CM, PS Tamang for the overall development of the State and for the betterment of the people of Sikkim despite having huge financial burden and liabilities created by the previous government,” he said.

Mr Lepcha urged the people of Sikkim to contribute in the State building process. He expressed that SKM government has lots of programmes and policies for the overall development of Sikkim and there is need for support from all sides for its effective implementation.

Earlier in his welcome address, the organizing committee president and Minister, Sanjit Kharel stated that many individuals had called SKM government a temporary government after its formation but the presence of people in such huge numbers from across the State is the answer to such elements.

Political Secretary to the CM, Jacob Khaling congratulated the people of Sikkim for the 8th foundation day of the party. He mentioned that people from across the State came together against the autocratic government of Sikkim Democratic Front and brought SKM to power in the last election. He alleged that Sikkim was totally destroyed in the 25 years of SDF government so SKM government has been working hard on its strategies and programmes to rebuild the State.

Press Advisor to the CM, CP Sharma stressed that the SKM government is very young and needs support from party workers and people to strengthen it. He mentioned that the mindset of a section of people who compare the 8-month-old SKM government to the 25 years of SDF government needs to change.

Senior Nari Morcha leader, Kala Raisaid that SKM has not been doing revenge politics but has been working in the interest of every person of Sikkim. She alleged that the former CM,Pawan Chamling is now trying to interfere in Nepal politics and that is a big threat to national security. On the same, Ms Rai urged the Centre to take serious note of it.

SKM youth leader, SonamChopel Sherpa congratulated the party workers and supporters for their hardwork and sacrifice in bringing ‘Parivartan’ in the State. He urged party workers not to only expect from the party but to be ready to contribute towards the party for the success of the real vision towards the Parivartan.

The foundation day celebration also witnessed a presentation by Parivartan Band.
