SPCC accuses SKM of turning against drivers

GANGTOK, 19 Feb:

Sikkim Pradesh Congress Committee has said that taxi drivers played a huge role in bringing Sikkim KrantikariMorcha to power but they are now being ill-treated by the SKM government.

In a press release, SPCC has accused the SKM government of raising crores of money from drivers by using the new Motor Vehicle Act. The drivers supported the party but they are suffering under the new government, the party has alleged.

SPCC has further alleged that there have been many instances of bad behaviour by the police and Transport department towards drivers. The party has also suggested that the revenue collected from drivers should be used to maintain roads and in the interest of drivers.
