Four professional footballers from Sikkim have contributed Rs One lakh towards the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to support efforts of the State government in combating COVID-19.
ISL players and Indian internationals, Nirmal Chettri, Sanju Pradhan, Bikash Jairu and Robin Gurung, collectively donated this sum on Wednesday, it is learnt.
In their facebook accounts, they wrote: “The Government of Sikkim under leadership of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay is sparing no efforts to protect our people from COVID-19. The government is also working hard to ensure minimum hardships for the people of Sikkim during the ongoing lockdown. As a support to the State Government in this unprecedented situation, we would like to contribute a sum of Rs 1,00,000/- to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. We also extend our deepest gratitude to the Health Personnel, Police Authorities and all those frontline workers who are working diligently at this moment of crisis.”
With a message to ‘Stay Home, Stay Safe’, they have appealed to the people to stay indoors and not venture out during the lockdown period so that the efforts of the frontline workers do not go in vain.
