CM joins PM’s video-conference, assures Sikkim has prepared well

Gangtok, 02 Apr [IPR]: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang [Golay] today joined the video-conference called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi concerning the COVID-19 outbreak. The video conference was attended by Chief Ministers of all the states of India.

The Prime Minister gave strict guidelines to the heads of all states to tackle the outbreak in the country.

He advised all the Chief Ministers to observe lockdown in their respective states and make sure that people are following it.

He also directed the heads of the states to look after the facilities and make sure there was no shortage of essential commodities.

The Chief Minister, on his part, talked about how the State Government has adopted every preventive measure and once again informed everyone about the availability of three months worth of essential products in the state.

He also informed how the Government was focussing on isolating and quarantining those who have recent travel history outside Sikkim.

Due to the recent casualty in the neighboring district of Kalimpong and with few more positive cases, he informed about the increased security at major checkpoints and of having directed officers to provide a report daily. 

The Chief Minister also urged NGOs and the people to be cautious and refrain from activities that will risk the lives of the masses.

With the effort of the people and the Government, the state has been able to contain the disease from entering Sikkim’s borders, he said.

With the next few weeks being crucial for the state, the Chief Minister urged everyone to cooperate in the same manner and observe social distancing to keep Sikkim COVID-19 free.

The video conference was also attended by the Health Minister Dr MK Sharma, Chief Secretary, DGP, Principal Secretary Health, Secretary to the Chief Minister and Secretary, Health Department.
