Yuksam, 09 Apr:
Ten students [three girls and seven boys] who returned to Sikkim from colleges and universities outside the state and were under 14-day quarantine at Tashiding Yatri Niwassince 25 March were discharged today.
The students need to undergo 14-day home quarantine in their respective homes and the students were sensitized on measures to be taken for preventing COVID-19.
The brief programme held at Tashiding Yatri Niwas was attended by SLA Deputy Speaker and Yuksam-Tashiding MLA, Sangay Lepcha, Yuksam SDM, Tshering Thendup Bhutia, Chongrang BDO, Subash Chandra Subba, Tashiding PHC MO/IC, Dr. Bidut Rai amongst others.
The students were sensitized on various health issues and particularly on safety and precaution from COVID-19.
Tashiding PHC MO/IC, Bidut Rai informed that the students who returned from colleges and universities had been put on 14-day quarantine and after thorough test and medical examination they were sent home today.
Yuksam SDM, Tshering Thendup Bhutia informed about various measures taken in the Subdivision to ensure the safety and well-being of people.
Tashiding PHC has 51 persons and Yuksam PHC has 45 persons under home quarantine currently and quarantined persons are being closely monitored by the respective doctors and health professionals.No health issues have occurred so far, he added.
Relief package distribution has started in the Subdivision and those who have been left out will be provided the packages soon, SDM, Tshering Thendup Bhutia informed.
SLA deputy speaker and Yuksam-Tashiding area MLA appealed to people not to panic and assured full support from the state government.
