Gangtok, 07 Jul:
A Class X student, Ikshahang Limboo, has made a foot sanitizer machine in the interest of public health and safety. Ikshahang is a student of Government Secondary School Duga, East Sikkim under West Pendam constituency, a press release informs.
According to Ikshahang, he used thick plastic pipes with solar panels, switches and other accessories to make this machine which cost around Rs. 1500 in total.
The product would have been better if there was a sensor installed in it for dispensing but the lockdown made it impossible to acquire one, says the Class X students. He adds that the product can be made in any size.
In January 2020, Ikshahang participated in the science exhibition held in Kolkata, representing the state of Sikkim.
Rangpo Local Taxi Owners cumDrivers Welfare Association has shown interest in the machine and installed it in Rangpo bazaar. Association president, Gangaram Bhattarai informs that after a taxi driver tested positive for COVID-19 in Sikkim, all the drivers and passengers are feeling unsafe and this initiative is a must for the state to take up especially at Rangpo.
“The machine has been installed in the market area and I urge the entire drivers of the state to be fully sanitized and take care of one another,” said MrBhattarai.
