CMMSS recipient, Diki Choden Bhutia receives Rs. 3 lakh to aid her initial study expenses at Queen M
Gangtok, 07 Aug (IPR): In a simple function held at the residence of Minister for Education Department, Kunga Nima Lepcha, the Minister handed over a cheque amounting to Rs. 3 lakhs to Diki Doma Bhutia of Rhamthang, North Sikkim as a onetime financial assistance to meet her initial expenses for admission, health insurance, visa fee, air fare, etc. for pursuing BSc (Psychology) at Queen Mary, University of London.
The cheque amount was sanctioned by the Chief Minister from Chief Ministers Discretionary Fund. Present during the occasion were MP (Lok Sabha), Indra Hang Subba, Secretary, Education Department, Anil Raj Rai, Director, Scholarship, Exam and Text Book, ST Bhutia and mother of Diki Choden Bhutia.
It may be mentioned here that Diki Choden Bhutia is a recipient of Chief Minister's Merit Scholarship Scheme (CMMSS) and was studying in one of the best residential school in India, SKV (Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya), Gwalior. She passed Class XII (CBSE) with flying colours and secured 95.4% in Humanities stream. She got selected for full scholarship to pursue her undergraduate course at Queen Mary, University of London under above mentioned scholarship. The Scholarship is a tie up scheme between Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya (SKV), and International Students House, London. It is also pertinent to mentioned here that she was the School Head Girl for the year 2019–20 and also recipient of most coveted SPIRIT OF SKV TROPHY-2020.
