ASDSO extends its support to the struggling students of Sikkim State University

August 11, 2020

Gangtok, 10 Aug:

University is the highest academic institution where studies of different schools and researches are done. University shapes future of the state and nation as well. University needs proper environment, well equipped infrastructure, permanent faculties, central Library and departmental libraries, laboratory and so on. However in this context SSU lacks so much. There were no Registrar and Controller of Examination until March of 2020. It is far beyond to think availability of genuine facilities in SSU.

History of Sikkim State University:-

In 2003, an Act Sikkim State University was passed by the Legislative Assembly and in 2017 the Act was amended and the vice-chancellor was appointed. Since its inception beginning that is in 2018, only two departments were started, Nepali department in NBBDC College and Sanskrit department in Sanskrit College at Samdong. Still after more than two years university is still running with two departments only with no plans to introduce other courses.

Conclusion:-

In the nutshell, ASDSO appeals to all the Teachers, Professors, Educationists, Social workers, Students' organisations, Students of Schools, Colleges and Universities and all  citizens of the state to take part in a week long Online Demand Movement which was started from  08 August 2020 in demand of proper establishment of Sikkim State University.
