SKM party VP extended greeting on Jan Unmukti Diwas

Sikkim Krantikari Morcha party senior vice-president, GT Lachungpa extended his greetings to leaders, workers and supporters of the party and to the people of Sikkim on the occasion of Jan Unmukti Diwas. The ruling party has been celebrating the day of the release of SKM president, PS Tamang from the jail after serving a sentence of one year on 10 August 2018 every year as Jan Unmukti Diwas.

Speaking to media persons, Mr Lachungpa expressed that the sea of people gathered from Rongneck Jail to Singtam showing solidarity for the revolution that SKM president had envisioned. On the occasion, he expressed his deep gratitude to the SKM president and the Chief Minister, PS Tamang and senior leaders, Kunga Nima Lepcha and Sonam Lama for continuously standing still in undemocratic odds. “Under their leadership Sikkimese people were given a much-needed democratic alternative, and the mandate Sikkim Krantikari Morcha received in 2019 clearly expresses the wish of the Sikkimese people. I would also like to thank all Krantikaris who alongside these leaders sailed through the tough tides and never thought of compromising on their ideals and jumping the ship,” he expressed.

He further expressed that these three were also a symbol of unity between the Bhutia, Lepcha and Nepali communities. He added that for them politics was not for material gain and they have truly set very high standards by not succumbing to horse trading. “We must learn and under their guidance we Krantikaris have to work hard and in a fair manner to keep the continuity of our role in the society. As such there will be many challenges, the immediate being the COVID 19 Pandemic. We must all come together for the betterment of our people, our motherland and our future generation,” Mr Lachungpa said.

He alleged that in SDF government if anyone was not in conformity with his political ideals were subjected to grave atrocities and victimisation. He further alleged that numbers of government employees against whom vigilance cases was initiated touched a record high during the period from 2014 to 2019. He also alleged the former CM, Pawan Chamling for causing a severe and irreparable damage to the reputation of the elite services and disgrace the diligent and sincere officers who work as per the law of the land. He also expressed best wishes to party workers and supporters of the party
