New Chairman of transport department, Basant Tamang on behalf of Sikkimese

Newly appointed chairman of transport department, Basant Tamang states that he will work on behalf of Sikkimese and their welfare without any discrimination. He maintained that he would be fulfilling his role as a chairman in the best possible way and in the interest of the Sikkimese people.

'My appointment as a chairperson by the state government is an opportunity for me to serve the state at a large', he said.

Basant Tamang who was given a rousing welcome in his native place Rimbi in West Sikkim on Monday by Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) supporters and natives has extended his gratitude to the party president and Chief Minister, PS Goley and the party workers for believing him and giving him the post of chairperson to serve people of the state. He maintained that the call of change had been achieved but the change in system of governance is yet to be a reality and SKM government is working tirelessly to bring about a change necessary for ideal and wholesome development of Sikkim.

He asserted that he would work on the causes and concerns pertaining to the department he has been assigned to look after. He shared that something has to be done to imbue the transport department.

On his political journey, Basant Tamang expressed that he joined politics when he could not accept the autocratic way of governance of the state under previous state government.

"My political journey started alongside Rolu picnic as other krantikari (revolutionary). Change of government autocratic system for a better Sikkim was our clarion call that has been achieved. Thanks to support of people and let us work with new enthusiasm and constructive vision", Tamang said.

Tamang further added that since he was a college student, he have had ample interest in politics of the state considering the fact that politics gives a platform to serve people and to live for the social cause.
