22 recover, 11 get admitted

GANGTOK, 26 Aug:

Eleven fresh cases of novel coronavirus disease have been reported in the State in the last 24 hours as on 8 AM Wednesday taking the total number of active cases to 407 and the confirmed cases of COVID-19 now stands at 1486.

Meanwhile, 22 more patients have defeated COVID-19 and have been discharged from isolation centres. A total of 13 patients from isolation centre of STNM and 09 from Himalayan Pharmacy Institute were discharged on Tuesday.

In the health bulletin of Health Department on Wednesday, State IEC Officer, Sonam G Bhutia mentioned that 10 cases were detected in testing of 358 samples at VRD Lab in STNM hospital and one case was detected in rapid antigen testing of 291 samples. He mentioned that the 10 cases were reported from flu clinic of STNM hospital.

While giving break-up of 10 cases found in RT-PCR, he mentioned that one was from OPD of Psychiatric ward of STNM hospital, one patient from above taxi stand of AmdoGolai in Lower Pani House, one from below Entel Workshop in 6th Mile Tadong, one from Chuba in 32nd No, two from belowKajala petrol pump and twonear Bakthang petrol pump in Lower Butuk, one from containment zone in AmdoGolai tested positive for COVID-19. He added that a person from NHPC Teesta Stage-V was found positive in the rapid antigen testing at the Rangpo screening centre.

MrBhutia mentioned that a 27-year-old person from Sichey also tested positive in RT-PCR testing. He added that the phone number given by the patient in the flu clinic while giving sample was not reachable at present. On the same, he appealed to the patient to contact the concerned authority.

He also requested people to tell the truth to the contact tracing team about primary and secondary contacts so that they can be isolated and tested in time.

There have been instances when people do not tell the truth about their primary contacts to contract tracing teams, and later tell them to go to the Flu Clinic exposing others to the virus, said Mr Bhutia.
