19 new cases takes COVID tally to 1958
GANGTOK, 08 Sept: Nineteen fresh cases of novel coronavirus have been reported in the State taking the number of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported so far to 1958. There are now 538 active cases of COVID-19 in the State. The figure of the cured & discharged patients of COVID-19 of Sikkim is standing now on 1413 with the discharged of 17 more patients from isolation facilities.
In his daily health bulletin on Tuesday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam G Bhutia informed that 13 of 96 samples tested by RT-PCR here at VRD Lab in STNM hospital on Monday were reported positive for COVID-19. Likewise, he added that two samples were found positive in the testing of 46 samples by TrueNat, while four persons were reported positive for COVID-19 in the rapid antigen testing of 25 samples.
While providing information on new cases reported in RT-PCR testing, he informed that one from near Marigold School in Sichey, two near from Rehab centre in 32nd No, one returnee from a paid quarantine facility, one from near Pushpa Garage in Development area and two from Rangpo were tested positive in RT-PCR testing. Mr Bhutia added that one person from Lum in North, who had come for check-up at Singtam District Hospital on 01 September and later referred to STNM hospital tested positive. He added that one SNT driver, who was earlier in Siliguri Transit camp and was presently in a quarantine in a hotel, was tested after showing some symptoms and reported positive for COVID-129.
He stated that one person from below traffic point in Upper Tathangchen, one from Paljor Stadium area, one from government quarter near High Court Museum and one from Ranipool were also tested positive in RT-PCR.
In giving break-up of RAT testing, State IEC Officer informed that one person from Munsi Colony in Development at Central Referral Hospital, Tadong, one from Kingstone Rhenock and two from Zuluk at Rongli were found positive in the rapid antigen testing. Likewise, he added that one from SIB colony in Vajra was also reported positive for COVID-19 in TrueNat testing.
It is informed that 12 patients from STNM hospital, 3 from Paljor Stadium and 2 from Himalayan Pharmacy Institute have discharged from isolation facilities yesterday after their full recovery.
