31 fresh cases bring Sikkim’s active COVID-19 cases up to 567

Gangtok, 13 Sept:

Sikkim’s tally of the confirmed COVID-19 cases reached 2,086 with the detection of 31 cases of novel coronavirus in the 24 hours ending 8 AM, Sunday. The number of active COVID-19 cases has increased to 567. In the meantime, two patients were discharged from the isolation ward of STNM hospital on Saturday after making full recoveries, taking the figure of cured & discharged patients of COVID-19 to 1,505.

In the daily health bulletin on Sunday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam G Bhutia detailed that in the testing of 225 samples by RT-PCR at the VRD Lab on Saturday, 28 returned positive for COVID-19. Likewise, three of the 43 samples tested by TrueNat were also found positive, while all 17 samples screened in rapid antigen testing were found negative for COVID-19.

While providing information about the new cases detected in RT-PCR, Mr Bhutia informed that one case was from near SABBCO Bank at Kazi Road [Gangtok], one from Decheling area of Chandmari [Gangtok], one from zero point in Tathangchen, one from Ranipool, two from the containment zone in Namnang [Gangtok] and two from above Orange Village in Samdur.

Likewise, one case was detected from opposite Deorali Girls SSS in Deorali, one was a patient admitted at STNM hospital, one from Pakyong, two from Majhitar, two from Rangpo, two from type two staff quarters in Raj Bhawan complex and nine GREF employees at a facility quarantine facility at Epica Garden.

He mentioned that another two-day-old child at the pediatric ward at STNM hospital tested positive for COVID-19.

Likewise, Mr Bhutia mentioned that a 37-year-old male from Metro Point, who had given a sample for testing yesterday, has also returned COVID-19 positive but his phone was not reachable. On the same, he urged the patient to contact the concerned authorities immediately.

He informed that one resident of Mangan, North Sikkim, who came to STNM hospital, and one Rangpo resident in the Flu Clinic of STNM hospital were found positive in TrueNat screening.
