Gangtok, 18 Sept:
Sikkim’s tally of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 2,303 with reports of 29 new cases of novel coronavirus in the 24 hours up to 8 AM Friday.
There are 422 active cases in the State while the number of COVID-19 patients discharged from isolation wards has now reached 1,857 with the discharge of 68 more patients on Thursday.
In the daily health bulletin on Friday, State IEC Officer, Sonam G Bhutia informed that 25 of 189 samples tested by RT-PCR at VRD Lab in STNM hospital on Thursday returned positive for COVID-19.
Likewise, three new cases were detected via TrueNat testing of 29 samples, while one sample returned positive in rapid antigen testing of nine samples.
Meanwhile, 13 patients from STNM Hospital, 20 from the COVID Care Centre at Paljor Stadium, 25 from CCC at SICUN and 10 from CCC at Himalayan Pharmacy Institute were discharged yesterday.
While providing the break-up of new cases found in RT-PCR testing, Mr Bhutia informed that three cases were reported from the Central Referral Hospital, Tadong, of whom one is CRH staff residing below ICAR, one from staff quarter A-block and one from near Greendale School.
He further informed that one person from Sang, one patient from Singtam District Hospital, one from below Lingding School, one from near Allahabad Bank at Swastik, Burtuk, one from near DIET College, Helipad in Burtuk, one from near Deorali Girls SSS and two from below police outpost, Deorali tested positive for COVID-19 in RT-PCR.
He mentioned that a 50-year-old male from Sichey, who was found positive in RT-PCR testing, remains unreached despite repeated phone calls by the Health Department team the entire day today.
Likewise, two from Development Area, two from Dikchu, one from near Smileland, Ranipool, one from Rolep, who is presently at Swastik in Gangtok, one from near Greendale School, one from the containment zone in Sukkhapul in Upper Sichey, one from near UCO bank on Paljor Stadium road, one from Temi-Tarku, one from Ranipool, one from Namchi and one from below Shiv Mandir at Pani House also tested positive in RT-PCR testing.
He mentioned that a person from Sisa Golai in Gangtok and one from Ranipool were found positive for COVID-19 in TrueNat testing, while one person from near Deorali Girls SSS tested positive in rapid antigen testing.
