GMC locked down for a week

 Gangtok, 20 Sept (IPR): The Government of Sikkim has recently declared to lockdown the Gangtok Municipal Corporation area for a period of one week as precautionary measures to contain COVID-19 in the area. 

In the recent Order issued from the Home Department, it was mentioned that the areas under the purview of the Gangtok Municipal Corporation would be adhering strict lockdown from 21 Sept (Monday) to 27 Sept (Sunday), 2020 wherein all movement of private and commercial vehicles would not be allowed to ply, the vehicles carrying persons responsible for carrying out essential activities shall be exempted on production of valid ID-cards or other relevant document to the Police personnel on duty. Business establishments, restaurants, bars and eateries would be closed and only ration shops, medicine shops and groceries would be open for the public. 

The Department of Information and Public Relations (IPR) with regard to the above mentioned order carried out the miking of the information at various places of the GMC areas in and around Gangtok on 19th and 20th September to provide a clear message to the people.

The other important information mentioned in the Home Department Order 33/Home/2020 dated 19 Sept, 2020 was also disseminated through miking by the Department.

The areas covered by the miking were Ranipool, 6th Mile, 5th Mile, Lumsey, Tadong, Deorali, Gangtok, Chandmari, Vajra, Tashi View Point, Burtuk, DC Office Sichey, Arithang, Lalbazar, Tibet Road, Kazi Road, Convoy Ground, Development area and other areas.
