Gangtok, 20 Sept:
Sikkim's Lok Sabha MP, Indra Hang Subba met Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Science and Technology, Dr Harsh Vardhan at his office in the Parliament House and submitted him a letter requesting research grants to the Sikkim University and other institutions within Sikkim through National Mission on Quantum Technologies and Applications (NM-QTA). Govt of India in the Budget 2020 has allocated Rs. 8000/- Cr for NM-QTA.
MP apprised him on how Sikkim is a potential candidate for research in various fields because of its cool, clean and peaceful environment. MP also apprised him the way research in various fields in Social Science, Basic Science, Applied Science, environment and Information Technology has been carried out despite limitations in funding. In this regard he assured MP to look into the matter seriously.
In the meeting MP apprised him regarding pending issues of reservation of seat for Limboo and Tamang STs in Legislative Assembly of Sikkim and inclusion of left out communities in ST. He assured that he would write to the concerned ministry forwarding the letter MP submitted on behalf of the people of Sikkim.
