Gangtok, 25 Sept:
Rotary Club of Siliguri Metropolitan along with Marwari Yuwa Sangh came forward to bring rays of hope in association with “Tele cancer Clinic” (TCC) and Darjeeling Oncology Trust and in regard to this a Basic Oncology Awareness Camp was virtually organized on 25 September in the 1st Stage. The aim of the camp was to bring state-of-art oncologists from pan India to share modern concepts, their waste experiences and to drive home that many cancer patients can be prevented - particularly tobacco related cancers; now the vaccine to prevent cervical, breast, oral cavity and cervix cancers comprise almost two thirds of cancer burden in India and these if suspected, diagnosed and treated early can be cured.
Palliation and palliative care is grossly misunderstood and has several taboos attached which they have plans to clarify including pain in cancer. This is very vital as almost 90% of patients present in advanced stages owing to the fear & misconcepts prevalent.
The organizer appeals all to come forward and take maximum benefit as this is being provided in the comfort for home and at every doorstep.
