Mamata chairs administrative review meeting for North Bengal districts

Siliguri, 30 Sept:

The second phase of administrative review meetings of West Bengal CM, Mamata Banerjee, covering Jalpaiguri, Alipurduwar, Coochbehar, Darjeeling and Kalimpong districts, was held today at Siliguri Uttarkanya. The CM was joined by political leaders and administrative officers at the meeting.

Ms Banerjee announced several developmental projects for these districts today.

She allocated Rs 175 crore to the Gorkhaland Territorial Administration which was accepted by Anit Thapa, Chairperson of the GTA. A sum of Rs 150 crore was received today and Rs 25 crore will be dispatched in the coming months for developmental works in the Hills and Rs 6 crore was allocated for the renovation of Dr. Graham's Homes School at Kalimpong.

The CM also informed that 104 acres has been allocated for the expansion of Bagdogra Airport and that work will begin soon for the construction of a second campus of Coochbehar on a 50 acre plot in Mathabhanga for Panchanan Barma University.

Also today, Rs 5 crore was given for the development of Rajbanshi Academy and Rs 10 crore for Rajbanshi Cultural Development Board.
