26 new cases takes COVID tally to 3,135
GANGTOK, 06 Oct: Sikkim’s tally of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 3135 with 26 fresh cases of novel coronavirus reported in last 24 hours in the State. In the meantime, 39 more COVID-19 patients were discharged from isolations and COVID Care Centres on Monday taking the figure of cured & discharged patients in Sikkim to 2506. With these figures, there are now 580 active cases of novel coronavirus currently in the State. Seven COVID-19 patients are admitted in the ICU facility of STNM hospital.
Out of 96 samples tested by RT-PCR testing on Monday, five were returned positive for COVID-19, while four more persons were found COVID-19 positive in the TrueNat testing. Seventeen more new cases of novel coronavirus were reported in the rapid antigen testing of 75 samples. Out of 26 new cases of COVID-19 positive, 22 have been reported in East District and 04 in South District.
While giving the break-up of new cases of novel coronavirus in the State, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam G Bhutia mentioned that one person from 5th Mile Tadong, one from Manipal Hostel, one from near Gumpa at Pabyuk-Naitam, one from Assam Lingzey and one from Pipaley in West Sikkim were tested positive for COVID-19 in RT-PCR testing. In TrueNat testing, one person from Sichey, one from Pani House, one from Pakyong and one from Chumbong in West Sikkim were found COVID-19 positive.
Likewise, one from Lower Nandok, one from MG Marg, one from Deorali School Road, one from IBM Rangpo, one form near SRM University in 5th Mile Tadong, one from Amdo Golai, one from DPH area Gangtok, two from Ranipool, two from Metro Point Tadong and two from Tadong School Road in East Sikkim were tested positive for COVID-19 in the rapid antigen testing, Mr Bhutia informed. He added that one person from Daragaon Jorethang, one from Sumbuk, one from Rabongla and one from Upper Dorok Salghari in South District were also found COVID-19 positive in RAT.
