50 fresh COVID cases detected, 5 remain untraceable.

GANGTOK, 13 Oct: Fifty fresh cases of novel coronavirus have been reported in the last 24 hours in Sikkim taking the State tally of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 to 3417. In the meantime, the figure of discharged patients of COVID-19 has further improved to 2933 with the discharge of 19 patients from isolation facilities on Monday. The active cases of novel coronavirus in Sikkim are now 346, in which five are currently in the ICU facility of STNM hospital.

In the RT-PCR testing at VRD Lab in STNM hospital on Monday, 30 of 141 samples were returned positive for COVID-19, while three more samples were tested positive of COVID-19 in the TrueNat testing of 13 samples. Likewise, 17 persons were also found COVID-19 positive in the rapid antigen testing of 82 samples. Out of 50 new cases, 42 are reported in East District, 06 in South District and 02 in North District.

While giving the break-up of new cases found in RT-PCR during the daily health bulletin on Tuesday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam G Bhutia mentioned that one patient from Emergency Ward of STNM hospital, three from Development Area, two from MG Marg, one from Samdur, one from near helipad Burtuk, one primary contact from the containment zone in Arithang, two from Metro Point Tadong and one from above Ruchi Clinic in Gangtok were tested positive for COVID-19. He added that two from Burtuk, one from below old STNM hospital in DPH area, one from Ranipool, one from Tibet Road Gangtok, one from Rai Gaon in Sichey, one from DPH, two from near Swastik gate, one from Church Road Gangtok, one from Tadong, one from the quarantine facility and one from Ranka were also tested COVID-19 positive in RT-PCR testing. Likewise, one from Yangyang in South District, one from Gyalshing in West District and one from Chujachen in East District were also reported positive for COVID-19 in RT-PCR testing, he added.

Mr Bhutia informed that two children of age 5-years-old and 15-years-old from Gangtok, whose reports came COVID-19 positive in RT-PCR, were not traceable on the given numbers provided during the testing and urged them to immediately contact the health department.

He further informed that two elderly persons 70-years-old female and 80-years-old man from Tadong, who were also found positive for COVID-19 in TrueNat testing, were also not traceable on the phone numbers provided to the authority during testing. Likewise, he added that a 22-years-old person from Rongneck was also found COVID-19 positive in TrueNat testing and was also not traceable on the given number. He urged them to immediately contact the concerned department on getting the message.

Likewise, samples of a person from Tathangchen, one from Assam Lingzey, one from Jalipool, one from Pakyong, one from Chalamthang Bermiok, one from Majhitar in Rangpo, one from Shantinagar in Singtam, one from Shantinagar and one from Rhenock given at CRH, Tadong were found COVID-19 positive in the rapid antigen testing, Mr Bhutia said.

He added that one person from Singhik and one from Ringdong in North Sikkim and three persons from Purano Namchi, two from near Alley Gumpa in Namchi and one from Upper Mamring in South District were also tested positive for COVID-19 in RAT.
