SSC VC Navin Kiran ask govt to work on issue of triba staus to 11 eft out communities of Sikkim.

GANGTOK, 13 Oct: Sikkim Subject Committee vice-convener, Nawin Kiran Pradhan has asserted that the State government should immediately start working on the issue of the tribal status to eleven left out communities of Sikkim. He added that this issue should not remain in the election manifesto of the ruling SKM party but the government should immediately start working on it by taking out appropriate formula. He alleged that SKM has not even taken a single step to this issue after forming the government.

Addressing a press conference here this afternoon, Mr Pradhan stated that although Nepali speaking people were in minority in Assam but Assam government has been working seriously for the community. On the same, he asserted that SKM government should working seriously for the left out communities to provide the tribal status and it should not remain to the election manifesto of the party. He mentioned that the government should not only work to make Sikkim a tribal state but also to work Sikkim in the sixth schedule of the constitution. “If the SKM is not able to do so then it should step down from the government and we will fulfill the demand of the people of Sikkim, he said.

Mr Pradhan alleged that around 1700 students of Sikkim have not been able to getting admission in any college in the State. He asked the government to take the matter seriously to ensure the admission of every single student in the college. He also demanded the state government to immediately provide appointment letters to all Sanskrit teachers, who were again taken back in their service after expelling them.

He mentioned to have a fruitful discussion and deliberations on various pertaining issues of Sikkim during his two-day tour in West Sikkim on 10 and 11 October. “I have met and talked to youths of Yuksom-Tashiding and Gyalshing-Bermiok and found that youths are now aware and conscious about issues of the State. I have also noted down various issues facing by people of West District,” he said. He urged the government to work out on issues of cardamom farmers, bad road connectivity and other pertaining issues of the district.

He informed that many contractors in the State were presently facing problem near to dasain as their bills were still not clear by the concerned departments. He demanded the government to clear all bills of contractors and suppliers before the festival.
