With two more deaths, Sikkim’s COVID to climbs to 59.
GANGTOK, 13 Oct: COVID-19 related death toll has reached 59 in Sikkim as two more persons have lost their life to novel coronavirus on Tuesday. A 68-years-old man from Arithang, Gangtok in East District and another 35-years-old man from Mamring in South District were passed away today here at STNM hospital with comorbidities.
In the daily health bulletin on Tuesday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam G Bhutia mentioned that a 68-years-man from Arithang, Gangtok, who was admitted in the COVID ward of STNM hospital on 02 October, passed away this early morning at around 3:15 AM. It is informed that the patient was tested COVID-19 positive in TrueNat testing on 30 September. He added that the patient had the comorbid condition of diabetic and was also diagnosed with pneumonia with acute respiratory distress syndrome.
Mr Bhutia mentioned that 35-years-old, who originally hails from Kolkata in West Bengal and was working in a company in Mamring in South District, passed away at around 11:57 AM today at STNM hospital. He informed that the patient was found positive for COVID-19 in the rapid antigen testing on 07 October and then admitted in the COVID ward of STNM hospital on the same day. He was then shifted to ICU facility later on and had comorbid condition of hypertension and also diagnosed with acute respiratory distress syndrome with hypertension. He informed that the family of the deceased has already started their journey from Kolkata and the cremation will be carried out tomorrow as per the protocol.
