Transport Minister, Sanjeet Kharel visited the Sikkim Nationalised Transport Complex in Siliguri on 13 Oct, 2020. The minister was accompanied by General Manager of SNT Department, Karma Namgyal Bhutia, Co-Manager, Bhupinder Chhetri, Gangtok, and Other Senior Officials of SNT Department, Siliguri. During the period, information has been received to discuss with the departmental officials regarding basic facilities should be provided to the tourists coming towards Sikkim. It is known that Sikkim as a state is a highly dedicated tourist destination and in the last 7 months the tourism sector has to suffer heavy losses due to the lockdown. Now after lockdown, the entire focus of the State Government has been shifted to promote tourism and bring in the maximum amount of domestic and foreign tourists into Sikkim. The main purpose of the Siliguri visit by Transport Minister, Sanjeet Kharel, has been realised with a view to develop the base of tourist coming towards Sikkim. On getting information about this with Minister Sanjeet Kharel, he states that the state government will take various initiatives to maximise the number of tourists to enter Sikkim from Siliguri to Gangtok.
