Sikkim records 42 new COVID cases, tally reaches 3,459

GANGTOK, 14 Oct: A total of 61 patients have been discharged from isolation facilities on Tuesday to further improve the figure of discharged patients of COVID-19 so far in Sikkim to 2994. In the meantime, Sikkim’s tally of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported so far has reached 3459 with 42 new cases of novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours in the State. There are now 325 active cases of novel coronavirus in the State, in which four are currently in the ICU facility of STNM hospital.

Thirty-one new cases of novel coronavirus were detected in the RT-PCR testing of 174 samples at VRD Lab in STNM hospital on Tuesday, while 11 more persons were found positive for COVID-19 in the rapid antigen testing of 57 samples. Likewise, all six samples tested by TrueNat were reported negative for COVID-19.

In the daily health bulletin on Wednesday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam G Bhutia mentioned that out of 42 new cases in the State, 41 cases have been reported in East District and 01 in South District].

While giving details of new cases in the State reported in RT-PCR, he informed three persons from the containment zone at Metro Point Tadong, two from 6th Mile Tadong, three from emergency ward of STNM hospital, five from Deorali School Road, two from near Swastik Gate and two from Mangley were found COVID-19 positive. Likewise, one person from Sumin, one from Ranipool, one from Namnang, one from Cooperative Road in Sichey, one from Lower Sichey, one from Rinchenpong, one from Sichey, one from Bhanu Gram in DPH area, Gangtok, one from Lapha Dara in Pakyong, one staff of Samman Bhawan, one from SNT colony at Daragaon Tadong, one from Arithang, one from Singtam Bazaar and one from Namchi District Hospital were also found positive for COVID-19 in RT-PCR testing, he said.

Mr Bhutia mentioned that six persons from AG quarters in Upper Sichey, one from above Metro Point Tadong, one from Tadong, one from Indira Byepass, one from Middle Shyari and one from opposite Manipal gate at 5th Mile Tadong were tested COVID-19 positive in the rapid antigen testing.
