GANGTOK, 16 Oct: A state-level meeting of youth cell of Sikkim Democratic Front party was held here at the party head-office at Bye-Pass road on Friday. The meeting, which was conducted by following the social distancing, was chaired by youth incharge and chief spokesperson of the party, MK Subba and attened by vice-president, BB Rai, vice president [administration] RD Bhutia and youth leaders and workers from all four districts, informs a SDF press release.
The release informed that this was the first meeting of the youth cell of the party after 2019 election which was held mainly to expand the organization of the party. After deliberation and discussion, the meeting has decided to expand the party towards new direction and dimension and to make youths active at every level and to coordinate with youths from block to district level, it is informed.
The release mentioned that the meeting has thanked Dr Smriti Gurung from Lower Arithang, who is doing her post doctorate in South Korea, for contributed 2000 testing kits for COVID-19 of worth around 40 lakhs rupees to Sikkim.
The release stated that in his address, SDF chief spokesperson, MK Subba mentioned that SDF was a youth-centric party and youth workers of the party need to be active and exemplary to lead youths of Sikkim. He also passed the message of the party president Pawan Chamling for youths to get united by following the policies, principles and programme of SDF party. He expressed that SDF party and its leader can only give qualitative leadership to Sikkim in the present time.
Mr Subba alleged that the rights and security of Sikkim and its people were in danger due to weak and irresponsible activities of SKM party in the present geo-political situation of Sikkim. He also alleged the ruling party has not fulfilled any of its promises made in the election manifesto. He also alleged that the State government has not been able to provide economic relief to the people of Sikkim during this global pandemic period due to COVID-19.
