NHPC Raising Day at Balutar

Gangtok, 08 Nov:

NHPC Teesta-V Power Station at Balutar celebrated the 46th NHPC Raising Day on 07 November, a press release informs.

Health Miniter Dr Mani Kumar Sharma, who is also the area MLA, accompanied by Tourism Minister BS Panth and chairpersons MB Chettri and Tashi Bhutia joined the celebrations, the release adds.

CM [i/c], Teesta-V Power Station, Sahadev Khatua, spoke on the role of NHPC in the development of Sikkim and announced that completion of Teesta Stage-VI will now be expedited.

He also spoke on the CSR & SD activities undertaken by NHPC in Sikkim.

Dr Sharma, in turn, congratulated NHPC employees on their raising day and appreciated NHPC’s assistance to the local population in crisis situations like the fire incident at Singtam and providing valuable support to the local community through CSR & SD schemes, the release adds.

He assured that the State Government will assist NHPC complete Stage-VI.

Minister Panth also applauded NHPC for providing aid to people I need under CSR & SD initiatives and expressed confidence that such gestures will continue.

Saplings were planted by the guests at the Power Station's auditorium campus to mark the Day.

As a part of the celebrations, a motor rally was organized within the Power Station's premises on 07 November to spread the “Save Energy & Protect Environment,” the release adds.

Also on the day, eleven “Best Performing Employees” including R&M staff were felicitated. Education scholarships were announced for 23 students under the education segment of CSR & SD of Teesta-VI.
