With 52 new cases, Sikkim Covid count reaches 4,871

The number active COVID-19 cases in Sikkim increased to 268 on Thursday with the detection of 52 new cases in the last 24 hours.
In the meantime, the figure of discharged COVID-19 patients further improved to 4,415 with 20 more patients being released from facility and home isolations on Wednesday.
Sikkim’s tally of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 now stands at 4,871. Four patients are currently admitted in the ICU facility of the COVID-dedicated STNM Hospital.
The 52 new cases were detected from the testing of 254 samples on Wednesday, of which 36 samples returned positive in RT-PCR testing of 124 samples, one was found in TrueNat testing of 14 samples and 15 were reported positive in rapid antigen testing of 116 samples.
In the daily health bulletin on Thursday, Health Department State IEC Officer Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia, informed that of the 52 new cases reported in the last 24 hours, 45 were from East District, four from West District and three from North District. No one from South Sikkim tested positive today.
He mentioned that five persons from Rhenock and three from the containment zone in Luing in East District and one from Lower Laso, one from Sombaria and two from Birding in West District were found positive for COVID-19.
He added that three persons from Pentok and one from Singhik, were the four who tested positive from North Sikkim.
Further, one person from Ranipool, two from Kanchi Bazaar-9th Mile, one from Tokal Bermiok, one from Marchak-Ranipool, one from Rangpo, one from Lal Bazaar-Singtam, one from Sangkhola and one from Saramsa were also found positive for COVID-19.
Among the new cases of novel coronavirus reported from in and around Gangtok are two from old hospital quarters, one from the containment zone in Bojoghari, two from Forest Colony Baluwakhani, one from Manbir Colony, three from Middle Shyari, two from Arithang, one from Upper Sichey and two from Deorali.
Likewise, new COVID-19 positive cases reported from Tadong are one from 5th Mile, two from MP Golai, two from Amdo Golai, three from Sang but currently residing at 6th Mile, one from Daragaon, one from Milan Gaon in Upper Tadong, one from Tadong Bazaar, one from 6th Mile and one from staff quarter of Central Referral Hospital.
