Citizens Foundation organized Health camp cum Covid-19 responsive activities at Parakha ward of Thek

Citizens Foundation, a leading national level NGO started implementing HDFC Bank’s CSR project – Holistic Rural Development Programme: SOULS (Sustainable Opportunities in uplifting Livelihood in Sikkim) in Sikkim in September, 2020. As an entry point activity under this programme, a series of Health camp cum covid responsive activities have been decided to be organized at different villages of Amba and Thekabong Parakha Gram Panchayat of Pakyong sub-division. This series of health camps have been commenced on 27 Nov, 2020. A health camp cum Covid-19 responsive activity has been organized at Sivalaya temple of Parakha ward of Thekabong Parakha GPU on 27 November by the medical staffs of Machong Community Health Centre, near to Parakha Anganwadi Centre. Medical Officer, Nursing Staff, Counselor, BPM and Mental Health Counsellor from Machong PHC, and Project Manager, Samgita Dahal attended the camp along with project staff of Citizens Foundation. About 30 patients from Parakha ward were present in the camp. Blood pressure, blood sugar level has been tested by the Nursing Officer and the Medical Officer prescribed medicine to the patients. Mental Health Counsellor discussed with the villagers about their mental health conditions. Covid-19 responsive activities e.g. distribution of mask and sanitizers, checking temperature, sanitizing nearby public places like ICDS centre, temple etc. by the spraying machine using PPE kit, hand sanitizing by using foot pedestal sanitizer set-up by the patients etc. have also been conducted during the health camp. This series of health camp cum Covid-19 responsive activities will continue to be organized in other villages of Amba and Thekabong Parakha GPU continuously.
