36 more inmates test positive for Covid at State Central Jail.
GANGTOK, 27 Dec: Sikkim has recorded 46 fresh cases of novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours ending Sunday morning taking the tally of the confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported so far in the State to 5845. Of the 46 new cases in the State, 44 are reported in East District, 01 in West District and 01 in South District. In the meantime, the figure of recovered cases of COVID-19 reported so far in Sikkim has further improved to 5079. There are now 547 active cases of novel coronavirus in the State, of whom four are currently admitted in the ICU facility of COVID dedicated STNM hospital.
In his daily health bulletin on Sunday, Health Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia informed that forty-six new cases were detected in the testing of 203 samples on Saturday, in which 44 samples were returned positive in the RT-PCR testing of 168 samples and two more persons were found positive for COVID-19 in the rapid antigen testing of 23 samples.
While providing the details of new cases reported in the last 24 hours, he mentioned that 36 more inmates of the State Central Jail at Rongneck in East District were tested positive for COVID-19. New cases reported from in and around Gangtok are one person from Burtuk, one from Lower Sichey, one from Lal Bazaar, one from Decheling and one from Development Area.
Mr Bhutia informed that the sample of a 22-years-old lady from Deorali, Gangtok was also tested COVID-19 positive but not traceable over the given phone number.
A person from Chujachen in East District, one person from Rangang-Yangang and one from Dambudara in South District and one person from Barphok Chingthang in West District were also found positive for COVID-19.
