Gangtok, 04 Apr: Five long distance runners from Sikkim have won medals at the second edition of a trail running competition, ‘The Buddha Trails 2021’ held at Sandakphu trail on the Indo-Nepal border in Darjeeling on Saturday. This is considered one of the toughest high altitude trail race in India. Phurba Tamang finished first in women’s category [65 kms] with a timing of 10 hours 12 minutes on the route started from Rimbick, Gurdung, Sandakphu [3736 m], Phalut [3435 m], Samaden, Ramam, Shrikhola Bridge and again at Rimbick. In 30 km categories, Nimsang Limboo also stood on the first position with a timing of 2 hours and 52 minutes, Bhusan Gurung on 2nd position with timing of 3 hours and 12 minutes and Dhan Kumar Manger on 3rd position with timing of 3 hours and 20 minutes. All four runners are the students of Marathon Man Amar Subba. Likewise, another runner from Sikkim, Neaha Rai, came first in 12 km category.
