6 more test positive for Covid in Sikkim

Gangtok, 30 Mar: Sikkim registered six new cases of novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours taking
the state's tally of confirmed cases of COVID-19 to 6,233. In his daily health bulletin on Tuesday, Health
Department State IEC Officer, Sonam Gyaltsen Bhutia informed that the driver of the vehicle in which a tourist [who tested positive at the end of his Sikkim tour] from Gujarat had travelled to North District from Development Area is among the six to have tested positive for COVID-19. He added that the driver was already in a quarantine facility. Mr Bhutia informs that another person from Jaipur, who was lodged in the
guest house of Manipal, has also tested positive. He added the person left for Jaipur this morning without informing anyone and his address in Jaipur has been acquired from the Manipal authorities.
Likewise, one person from Rumtek, one from Luing Road-Pangthang and one from Bojoghari have
also tested positive for COVID-19. Mr Bhutia also announced today that 37-year-old Kalpana Rai
from Tadong has also tested positive and was reportedly on her way to Siliguri when the contact tracing
team called her this morning. Since then, she has not been responding to any calls made by the team
and Mr Bhutia urged her to immediately contact the authorities to share her primary contact list and to contain the places she might have visited. In the meantime, the figure of recovered cases in Sikkim still holds at 5952 with no new recoveries in the last 24 hours. There are currently 48 active cases of novel coronavirus in Sikkim. The six new cases were detected in the testing of 91 sample on Monday. All six
cases were picked up in RTPCR testing of 82 samples
